Contributed by Peter N. M. Hansteen on from the puffing up the versions again dept.
A clear sign that the OpenBSD 7.5 release cycle is entering the final phases just emerged.
In this commit, Theo de Raadt (deraadt@
) changed the version string to 7.5:
From: Theo de Raadt <deraadt () cvs ! openbsd ! org> Date: 2024-02-29 17:05:10 CVSROOT: /cvs Module name: src Changes by: deraadt@cvs.openbsd.org 2024/02/29 10:05:10 Modified files: sys/conf : newvers.sh Log message: move from 7.5-beta to 7.5
It is worth noting that this does not mean that the new version has been released. This only means that what you will be testing when you install a snapshot will be ever closer to what will eventually become OpenBSD 7.5-release.
For upgrades to work correctly, you will need to run
sysupgrade(8)
with the -s
flag
and upgrade your installed packages by running
pkg_add(1)
with -D snap
in addition to your usual options:
$ doas sysupgrade -s [ ... lots of output ... ] $ doas pkg_add -u -D snap
Please do keep in mind that when you engage with -current
, it is always useful to read the FAQ's
Following -current
section to minimize surprises.
Happy OpenBSD 7.5 prerelase testing!
