Native EFI Bootloader Support for OpenBSD

Contributed by phessler on from the gotta boot 'em all dept.

As the j2k15 hackathon comes to a close, OpenBSD gets its very own native EFI bootloader.

On Twitter, Yojiro UO (yuo@-san) posted a list of systems tested and working with the new bootloader.

As you can see, a number of EFI-only systems are now successfully booting OpenBSD.

And as seen on twitter Yasuoka@-san posted a little teaser with the dmesg from an EFI-only MinnowBoard

Great! Any tips on how to use it? Is it part of the snapshots installer? Do I need GPT partitioning? Will installboot(8) be able to install it to a drive? Do I need a FAT32 partition at the front of the drive for UEFI?

I checked the committed README, but it's just a license.

It is currently not included in the installer yet. Work is on-going, but now others can assist.

The amount of work that goes into this Operating System is simply amazing.

All I can say is "thank you"!

An EFI bootloader & i386 hypervisor in the same week?

Send the Champagne corks flying :-)
