Except in Europe the date would have been 20/4, which wouldn't make any sense, unless your an American and high.

Also there is much more to do in Amsterdam than smoke the Nederwiet, you know like drinking Grolsch or Heinekin in small glasses with two fingers of foam, eat fantastic food, check out the fantastic architecture, go to OpenBSD release parties, the red light district, the museums, the canals, smoke Nederwiet ... damn, I miss Amsterdam.

I like your catchment area :-)

Your website reminds me I should put an OpenBSD link on mine!

Are you using OpenBSD exclusively as a firewall appliance?

I'm looking for fellow sysadmins like me, running OpenBSD in any server role, supporting windows clients in small biz networks.

      Cheers,
      Wim

Within the M25 myself. Likeminded OpenBSD admin since 2.3, what a journey it's been!

I only work in big companies though, $US 2 trillion+ is a good starting point - they haven't even donated a single cent to OpenBSD even though they used one of the projects products for years :-(

I'll raise a pint in celebration but my days are full of finding ways to convince my colleagues to improve security so I'll have to cry off this time.

Hopefully one day I'll make it to EuroBSD, we can swap stories, get drunk, fall over then repeat until we pass out ;-)

        Cheers,
        Alex.

Perhaps a silly question, but how suitable is this event for people who dont speak Dutch? I only speak English and wouldn't want to make people feel uncomfortable by translating all the time

Dutch and Flemish people (below 35-ish) have scary English language skills, you will be very pleasantly surprised :-)

I would say: scary accents when they speak English. ;-)

English speakers are more than welcome! I like diversity.

Last year we even had an American visitor (hey Kevin, dropping by again? :-)

At most conferences and events I've never seen any problems, most people automagically switch to the common language (up to a point where Germans stop speaking German to me, right Felix? :-)

Tempting... direct flights from the states are still relatively cheap.

Just need to find a conference or something out there to make the weekend worthwhile.

I was at the 4.2 Release Party @Amsterdam, it was well worth the trip. Fine beer at de Deugniet, good food there and at a dozen other places within a block or two. I think there are some pictures, somewhere...

The party, like Amsterdam in general, is not a problem for people who only speak English -- my Dutch vocabulary is very limited, I survived with little more than "Bier, toiletten, uitgang, dank u" :)

If you'll be anywhere nearby on May 8th, you should attend. Check your train schedules now.

Cafe "De Deugniet" is verry easy to reach by train. It's less than 5 minute walk from the Amsterdam central station.
