cvs'ing doesn't come with stickers. Hopefully those who say they'll donate instead, actually do - anything is better than nothing.

I don't have anything to put stickers on ;). And I always donate after I download a new release. Not the full 50EUR, but still a contribution. One does what one can.

I put a Puffy sticker on my cellphone. Incredibly enough people do notice it and ask questions :).

I put a JPEG with Puffy as my cellphone's background image. And yes, people notice it, and like it. :-)

OpenBSD does not earn anything from T-Shirt sales so what does the project earn from CD Sets?
And I wont get told "They get a share". I would like to get a public discussion or explantation of the financial status and howmuch the project does earn from CD sales.
It is meaningless to order a CD set if the Project does not get the full 50EUR/CAN.

It does. Apart from manufacturing costs and shipment.
If you question it, don't order the CD set, donate directly to the project.

So OpenBSD continues to exist.

Hopefully enough to continue to exist.

You would like what? To know the full financial details of a
private project? Wow, you've got some balls.

Well, the CD's obviously cost something to make...

If any project asks for donations, people have a right to ask where that money goes. A project also has the right not to offer that information, but providing it and proving how much goes to the goals of the project would definitely help in fund raising.
I am very skeptical of charities and projects asking for donations. I don't know anything about the financial status of OpenBSD, but I have no reservations that the money donated is well spent to create a quality product.

So, then do your homework: <http://www.openbsdfoundation.org/>
If you don't want to pay for a CD set or a t-shirt because some of the cost it may go toward the cost of production (oh noes! OpenBSD is not free of the market economy!), or you don't want to donate directly because you hate making cheques out to Theo, you can support the OBSD foundation.
Or you can leach releases off FTP. Your choice.
Personally, I have no problem with a t-shirt and CD set 1-2 times a year. It's far cheaper than the money I waste of coffee and beer in a single month.

OpenBSD does not earn anything from you downloading the software, so why download it? The T-Shirts have nice geeky artwork on it, the same for the cd sets ... Like Marc said, you can just donate the money if you like.

C'est juste comme Marc indique, donnent si vous n'aimez pas l'idée des bénéfices allant à d'autres parties.

Why is this modded -7? He makes a perfectly valid point. I'll be kind enough to translate:
"It's just like Marc says, donate if you don't like the idea of money going to other parties."

Unfortunately, because it was French.. posting in French on a clearly English-oriented site is ignorant, easily mistaken for spam.
It's a cruel world, adapt.

Theo has managed to keep the OpenBSD project churning out great things for 10 years. If he says that CD sales help the project and requests purchases, then that is all I need to hear.
Donate hardware or money if you want your contribution to be 100% directed to OpenBSD.

Wikipedia does a great job in giving financial reports. I would really appreciate if OpenBSD does the same.

As always very good artwork, with neat color contrast.
Theme makes a good point, Freedom means you cannot dictate what others will do. Something that I really hope stays with BSD code and GPL as well. Otherwise you just can do much with the code, without paying a tithe to somebody.
Sure would be interesting if OpenBSD made videos. Perhaps later.
Thanks for another release.

I would like to install it on my Lenovo T61 that has Windows XP on it. Unfortunately, I need to dual boot, because work will require that "other" OS some of the time.
Since it is a new laptop, I'm thinking I can:
-use DISKPART from XP to make the Windows partition smaller
-restore XP from the Rescue function
-install OpenBSD from my cool CD in a new partition
-dual boot
am I on the right track?

Yep... always a good idea to `test' the recovery feature of a windows install.
Some OEM have dumb recovery programs, that will reformat and reinstall over the whole disk. To the best of my knowledge, the thinkpads are better... assuming things work, and your laptop is restored correctly, then installing OpenBSD should be a breeze.
If your laptop partitioning gets erased, then you have no choice but to use some better repartitioning program... Very often though, the default partitioning contains a `program' and a `data' partition, the data partition being empty... so you can just resize that one in such a case.
You can then dual-boot using windows's boot program, as documented in the FAQ. The old limit of `can only boot if root is within 4G' is long gone, so multi-boot installations are WAYS simpler.

Read: http://openbsd.org/faq/faq4.html#Multibooting
about just using the windows boot loader to boot openbsd, I use it and really like it :)

For the person questioning the ordering of CD sets, I want him/her to know that I buy a CD set at each release. That helps the OpenBSD project. I also buy a t-shirt, which helps the project even if they don't see a dime of profit from them. The more people who wear the t-shirts, the more free advertising the project gets.
Oh, and I also chip in $25 Canadian as a donation with each order. I keep each order to an even $100 Canadian, and also donate extra money when asked for.
