OpenBSD Journal

Today is OpenBSD's 12th Birthday!

Contributed by sean on from the yet another candle on the cake dept.

According to /usr/share/calendar/calendar.openbsd:
Oct 18 OpenBSD born, Wednesday 08:37:01 GMT, 1995

According to Theo this is the date to agree upon. Let's just enjoy the 12 years of effort and maybe keep it going for at least 12 more by giving Puffy a birthday gift (EU).

There have been many exciting innovations over these past dozen years and even looking at the source changes over the last few days. And it looks like even more neat advances are on the horizon.

Thanks & kudos to all developers, donators, users, believers, evangelists and aficinados -- keep doing that brilliant work!

Raisin' my beer (right in front of my ThinkPad -- OpenBSD makes it invulnerable even to liquids)...

Great. In one more year, OpenBSD will be a know-it-all teenager. Sure, it may be secure by default, but is it secure enough to resist teen aged peer pressure?

OpenBSD has been resisting peer pressure far better than its (non)peers have.

I like to think OBSD is mature beyond its years.
