Johan M:son Lindman writes:

This time Wim Vandeputte talks on the topic "What is OpenBSD?" on the SitesCollide podcast.

I never seem to be able to download from that place.. The "MP3" link seems to be a metadata file that contains a link to a file that doesn't exist!

Can you please "check" links before posting them? or perhaps try posting "direct links" instead of pseudo direct links "deanna"?

    Thank you......... ;)

Well it doesn't in either mplayer.. VLC or even a download client like wget.

Indeed, this site is a PITA to download something.

I just put it on my site. The link here uses the coral cache to not kill all my bandwidth: http://www.llorien.org.nyud.net:8080/OpenBSD/scr010.mp3

      Enjoy.

It seems that the links change from time to time. I just edited the article to point to one that is working right now.

This is impolite at best. If people have more trouble, they should actually go to the site and look for the mp3 there. I just put a straight link to Sites Collide in the article.

Not saying it's your fault, but in defense of others, I looked this morning myself too (the straight link) and only #9 was there - and the link you posted for the mp3 didn't work.

It's on the site now though and your mp3 link now works - maybe just something minor on the site at the time...

Yep, I noticed it too. I think from now on we'll just link to the web page instead of trying to provide direct download links.

This is not an attempt to steal anything from sitescollide. Only people who read undeadly and have problems downloading it and want to hear Wim should have used this link. There is no link to this mp3 on my site, only the one on undeadly. And the straight link didn't work either, it took me half an hour to be able to download the mp3.

What is that "KISS"-applicance thingy Wim mentions? I wasn't able to find anything on the net about it. Anybody who knows more about it?

Hmmm it seems I invent new architectures on the fly, did anybody spot it? ;-)

Keep in mind this podcast we geared towards the non-technical crowd, so don't expect any spectacular revelations...

Well, almost nobody else ever talks about the social aspects of the project.

Even though I'd peg you as non totally objective, I would assume it will be fairly interesting to non-insiders.

      Everyone,
Thanks for the intrest in the show. I know you are interested in hearing Wim and not me, but still I am pleased to see you are all enjoying the program. :-)

First, I'd like to apologize for the downloading problem, there were some obvious technical problems this week. I won't go into that here, but it *SHOULD* be fixed now.

That being said, I DO appreciate you putting up an alternate link to my show file. Everything is working now on my site again. I ask that you please be kind enough to download it from my site instead now. I ask this because I sell small ads to keep the show going and I can't sell them if I can't show my sponsors the data for how many downloads are really happening. So, if you liked the interview and already downloaded it from somwhere else, PLEASE go and download it again from my site so I get credit for my work. :-) Thanks a ton!

As an aside, I am actually starting to use OpenBSD myself and I am really excited about being part of the community and giving back in my own way (via PR). :-)

Thanks again everyone!!! and a HUGE thanks to Wim! Enjoy the show....

P.S. If any of you have any interesting sites or technologies and would like to be featured on the show, please email me and let me know.

After the site found it's new home (on an OpenBSD server, of course) I had to update the links to this show. Here they are: Link to the page: http://www.sitescollide.com/Podcast/C8F1C6F7-72B1-4E47-B51A-42212989BF19.html Link to the MP3: http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/SitesCollide/~5/136752314/scr010.mp3 Sorry for the change, but I think it is for the better. Thanks again, Tyrel www.sitescollide.com
