AMD64 needed for -stable Ports Maintenance

Contributed by mbalmer on from the we-need-we-do-it-you-use-it dept.

The ports team, which is holding a ports hackathon later this year, is in need for another AMD64 machine to simplify -stable ports maintenance and to add AMD64 to the list of architectures for which we supply -stable package updates.

We are looking for a machine with 40 or more GB of diskspace and 512 MB or more of RAM capacity. The machine should be, if possible, in a tower casing rather than an 19" enclosure and emit as low noise as possible.

If you can help us by donating such a machine, please contact Nikolay Sturm, sturm@openbsd.org. Of course we will mention your donation on our donations page.

If the machine had some circuitry to control front panel LED's, that would be an appreciated plus.

Thank you for your help!

Being a porter myself, I can only ask you to support this request. I will help us provide stable packages for our users.

Why? Blinkenlights isn't really that important...

Errors can be indicated by just letting the comp send you an email.

Who pays shipping, OIOW where is the machine expected? If you can't find anyone to donate perhaps some people are willing to trade? Come back and make an offer what you'll trade for..

They already did. They will trade you -stable AMD64 packages for it.

Shipping inside the US can be cheap, I usually go with FedEx ground.

I just donated 24 pounds of PC and SCSI gear to Todd Fries, cost me all twelve bucks to ship.
