Archite wrote in to say:

Hello everyone! A few friends and I have started a BSD user group for central California. I would love to see some turnout and get some members at least joining the IRC channel (#ccbug @ FreeNode). The web page is at www.ccbug.org.

I look forward to hearing from some of you!

    Define "Central California"

California is, what, 1200 miles long (?) with several places called the "center" from Bakersfield to Sacramento, which are about a 6 hour drive apart IIRC.

The site is hosted in Stockton, so I guess they mean Central Valley area. (Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Fresno)

Actually, you are right, it could be anywhere in between. That is the idea. No real meeting place has been set. This is something which we plan on doing once a member base has been established. Traveling is of little concern; enjoyment of the *BSD's is!

I'm thinking 209 and 925 area codes. The website is in Stockton, and Pleasanton has been raised as a possible meating site.

no, it is not 209/925 specific. There are a few member in San Francisco and in the general bay area. There were talks of having the meeting in Pleasanton to be close to everyone, but as state, it was a tentative meeting place.

          I live in stockton.

There's already an openbsd users group in SF.

I'd completely be down for this, just find me some time away from work and school. I live about 20 minutes from Stockton, so sign me up! (or I'll just go to the web site.)
