WTH Report: 2 Days To Go

Contributed by robert on from the drugs but no liquor dept.

A really long day without connectivity until very late in the day.
A few people arrived along with a few more couches, and overall the day was more about talking and socialising than about productivity. The music consisted of a nice mix of humppa and politically incorrect marches.
Despite that WTH still hadn't officially started, OpenBSD seemed to be on the minds of quite a few people. A significant number of people came by to buy CD sets, jackets, drink beer, humppa or just see what was going on.
Around 22:00 the network was online but wasn't very stable and some people were getting the wrong addresses (RFC1918 as opposed to publically routable ones), and it seemed like someone was trying to do arp poisoning attacks on the router.
The lack of network had an interesting effect on the amount of alcohol intake and subsequent loss of personal property in the ditches around the village.
You can see some pictures in this gallery.
We will try to keep you informed during the whole event.

A lot. I guess that we're around 100 at least. People are still arriving and some are at presentations, drinking, talking, slacking etc. in some of the other villages, so it's hard to tell. Also, lots of unrelated people drop by to see what's going on here, drink beer, listen to humppa, get help installing OpenBSD or ask for directions.

Can anyone tell me wether Wim is there to process real late eurobsd forms ? I emailed him but didn't yet receive a reply. I really hope I can still pay for a place to sleep and power my lappy :) Please respond.

Wim is really busy all the time doing stuff like coordinating stuff, getting more couches, selling merchandise (you should see his face when girls come by and want to buy bikinis!) and finding labour for doing various things.

If you're not already here, just get down to the village and talk to someone and we'll find out something.

I'm not sure that I believe that the terms "nice mix" and "humppa" can co-exist in the same sentence without some sort of negation taking place. Of course, I'm not an OpenBSD dev either so maybe their minds work differently than other people.

I only hope they've water proof equipment -- it currently tends to rain cats and dogs here in middle europe.
