Securing MUAs

Contributed by jose on from the s/mime dept.

We all know that Pine and Mutt interact with PGP quite readily, either natively or with add on packages. However, what about S/MIME , an alternative secure email standard?

Pine and S/MIME have been tested together before. You can use OpenSSL certificates with Pine in fact, and Pine 4.51 has native S/MIME support .

Mutt also has S/MIME support. The smime4mutt package adds this support on. Additionally, an RC file for Mutt can be used to enable and configure S/MIME support.

All worth checking out as widespread alternatives to PGP encrypted mail.
