OpenBSD in VirtualPC

Contributed by jose on from the virtually-there dept.

Peter Bartoli has been working on maintaining OpenBSD components for installation on VirtualPC . A few drivers need to be modified to make use of the virtual hardware from VirtualPC, and limited memory constrains sometimes require a more svelte kernel, which he also provides. Luckily things have improved since 2.7 was unable to install on VMWare . The uses of this are pretty straightforward: you can run honeypots of OpenBSD systems, you can experiment with -current or kernel changes, or you can simply have two system types running at once, popular for people in the pen-testing field. As always, unsupported by the OpenBSD team, you're on your own, and you risk permanent sight damage.

... that using this will lead to severe anal leakage? 'Cos that would really ruin my day.

I think the opposite would be true in your case - anal leakage can serve as a lubricant to make the insertion of foreign objects easier, which is obviously a great benifit to people like you.

There is something about OpenBSD that attracts more than its fair share of flames. People get worked up about it.
